Work may be available at this or different YMCA Day Camp locations during summer, spring, and winter breaks.Shift: Monday Friday 2pm 5pmRate: $22.24/hourStart Date: As soon as possibleReports to: Team Leader, YMCA Kids ClubBenefits:Free YMCA gym membershipCasual dress codeProfessional development and training opportunitiesJob Description:Our YMCA Kids Club before and after school care programs provide a safe, fun environment that encourages children to try new things.

We are looking for passionate, energetic, flexible, caring and responsible individuals to work with school age children before and/or after school.

YMCA Additional Support Activity Leaders are responsible for ensuring children with challenging behaviors or support needs have an inclusive before and after school experience.Responsibilities:Work effectively within a staff team to provide an inclusive environment of support, strategies, and resources for children with diverse needs to fully participate within the program.Help to build a community of inclusion for all children through supporting strengths and stretchesBuild and maintain positive relationships with children and their families, and key stakeholdersContribute to the development, integration, and maintenance of care plans within the programHelp children navigate conflict and role model positive behaviorsEnsure the health and safety of children in your careAdhere to workplace health and safety policies, safe work practices and proceduresQualifications/Experience:Must be 19 years of ageExperience assisting children with toilet support needs an assetExperience working or volunteering with children ages 5 12Experience working with children with additional support needsEmergency First Aid & CPR in accordance with Schedule C of the Child Care Licensing Regulation (can be taken within 90 days of start date)It is an asset if you have had training related to child development, and if you don”t – the YMCA provides trainingSuccessful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date.
