I.T. Support Specialist

GESCO, Canada’s largest floor covering solutions provider has an opportunity for an, I.T.

SUPPORT SPECIALIST The IT Support Specialist will report directly to the Director of IT and will immediately join an innovative, close-knit, and dynamic IT team.

Summary: Level 1 and 2 IT Help Desk coverage as well as general IT deployment and support.

Will be involved in developing and executing IT related end user training.

Will help identify opportunities and recommend solutions that will enhance or improve current business processes.

Will help develop and execute strategic IT plans and initiatives.

· Co-Responsible for the coverage and Day-to-Day smooth operation of the corporate IT Response Centre (Help Desk)
· Monitor and report on the effectiveness of the IT Response Centre.

Look for trends and ways to be proactive Anticipate problems
· Co-Develop and maintain a USER “IT” WEB Portal.

IT News and Tips Key IT performance statistics IT related Announcements, Training etc.

· Co-Develop and schedule user IT training and act as the IT trainer when possible.

· Co-responsible for all new User setup and Administration.

· First level Active Directory support.

· Backup support for our corporate External SPAM and Anti Virus service.

· Understand and help administer and support our ERP system.

Play a key role in implementing new features.

Level 1 application support and well as user setup and maintenance.

Responsible for initiating and monitoring “Night Jobs”, including backup tape setup, and invoice distribution jobs.

· Co-Administrator of our Asset Manager software
· Help with PC Life-cycle Management including PC Hardware and Software installation and configuration.

· First level “Quick Base” application support and user setup.

· First level Virus / Spam wall Support.

· First level Office 365 Support.

(All programs)
· First level Voice Systems Support.

· Co-manage our Cellular Devices environment including all hardware and mobile security systems.

· Backup for the IT manager in his absence.

· Special projects as required.

· Assist in developing and deploying IT direction and strategy at SHNIER.

· Assist in Disaster Recovery planning and execution.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
· Solid understanding of current Computer hardware and software systems and programs.

· Proficiency in MS windows 10 and MS Office 365.

(Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.)
· A good understanding of Networking and Active Directory setup and management.

(MCITP certification would be an asset.)
· Keeps current with IT best practice ideas, concepts and trends.

· Keeps current on new emerging technologies.

· Ability at times to work early morning or late evening shifts.

· Strong interpersonal skills toward effectively dealing with our users and vendors.

· Internally motivated and able to work in a team environment as well as work independently.

· Have the ability to multitask and coordinate multiple projects to meet deadlines.

· Ability to stay focused and work well under pressure.

· Attention to detail and follow-through.

· Excellent customer service skills and ability to understand and apply knowledge from technical sources.

· Strong written, verbal, presentation and listening communication skills are essential.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
· Post-secondary diploma or degree in Computing Science.

· 8 years experience within the IT industry.

· 3 to 5 years experience working in a similar role providing daily technical support and IT expertise to a multi branch organization.

· Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems and infrastructure.

Desirable Additional Experience:
· General project coordination / management.

· Familiarity with the Cloud computing model.

Implementation and use experience within personal and corporate environments.

· Experience within the IBM i environment including user setup and administration.

· Experience with mobile devices setup and support.

· Experience in developing, integrating and deploying Information Systems.

· Experience with Hardware and/or Software national roll outs.
