This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.ResponsibilitiesWithin their scope of practice and in collaboration with patients and the health care team, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides care for patients with defined health challenges and predictable outcomes.

As the acuity or complexity increases and/or outcomes are not predictable, the LPN, under the supervision of the Registered Nurse provides nursing interventions, within their scope of practice as described in the LPN Act and Regulations and LPN Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics.

The RN is accountable for creating the plan of care, that assignment of patients and delegating selected nursing functions to the LPN.

The LPN is accountable for individual actions or practices within his/her scope of practice, including the acceptance of delegated functions and for decisions and actions taken in the provision of nursing care.Qualifications Graduate of an accredited program for Licensed Practical Nurses Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN) Medication course required Manual dexterity in performance of designated procedures Ability to follow verbal and/or written instructions Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills Able to work independently and as part of a team Experience working in a team environment Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred Successful external applicants are required to provide a criminal record check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) to People Services before starting employment and assume any associated costs as a condition of employmentPLEASE NOTE: Applicants will be screened on the above qualifications.
