Operations Supervisor


This is a Contract position in Vancouver, BC posted October 6, 2021.

Job Title: Operations Supervisor

Reports To: Vice President Operations

Department: Operations

Position Summary

The Operations Supervisor is responsible to lead with an owner’s mindset, ensuring operational excellence across multiple units. The Supervisor is client focused, ensuring each customer is provided with an exceptional experience. The Supervisor is also responsible to foster a positive working environment, engaging and motivating associates to achieve results. The successful candidate is enthusiastic, accountable, a great team player, process minded, and results oriented.


  • Deal with customer and Associate issues in a satisfactory manner, and escalating them as necessary;
  • Take a proactive approach in process improvement / developing efficiencies;
  • Work with the VP of Operations to implement new policies and procedures;
  • Work collaboratively with the VP of Operations to make recommendations for staffing to cope with seasonality, including the use of temporary staff during busy seasons;
  • Foster and maintain courteous and professional relationships with our retailers and logistics providers;
  • Create the weekly schedule for employees;
  • Receive deliveries and organize according to our processes;
  • Attend to customers at their vehicles;
  • Notify clients that packages are ready for pick up;
  • Track & report key statistics as requested;
  • Work within designated budget;
  • Maintain a clean and safe physical environment including but not limited to shoveling snow, salting and general clean up;
  • Notify Property Managers regarding any onsite issues;
  • Follow all processes as outlined the by the PenguinPickUp Handbook;
  • PenguinPickUp Units assigned during the course of employment can change from time to time;
  • Other duties may be assigned from time to time.

Academic/Professional Requirements:

  • Minimum a High School Diploma or equivalent, or currently in process;
  • Additional designation/certification is an asset.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience of demonstrated ability to motivate and coach teams;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in delivering exceptional customer service;
  • Proactive with strong problem-solving abilities;
  • Maintain a positive attitude when faced with difficult situations;
  • Enjoy working in a team environment or on your own;
  • Must be organized and able to multitask and prioritize workload;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to interact with people of all levels;
  • Must be willing and able to work shift work and work overtime as per business demands;
  • Must be computer literate and comfortable operating and understanding new technologies;
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to work in varied outdoor temperatures and sustain physical activity levels over time, including being able to lift 50 lbs., squatting, standing for a prolonged period and walking throughout shift, and wear safety shoes throughout shift, adhering to all Health and Safety requirements;
  • Must be willing and able to wear the required uniform;
  • Maintain a clean, and presentable appearance at all times.
