And we’re chasing it with all we’ve got! What We Do At any given time, the Ian Martin Group has thousands of contractors on assignment with our client companies all around the country. Those contractors depend on us to get paid accurately and on time, and our incredibly talented payroll team makes sure they do. Payroll Support Specialist In this role, your job is to receive diverse payroll starts, time sheets, invoices, and adjustments from all across our business, and make sure that every T is crossed and every I dotted (and then double checked) so that thousands of people are paid accurately and efficiently every single week of the year. It’s payroll on a level most payroll folks couldn’t imagine. Our ideal candidate has significant experience and desire to create an incredible contractor experience with every interaction. You always seek to put yourself in the contractor’s shoes and do whatever is necessary to help them succeed. You’re responsive and knowledgeable, and are driven to help our contractors succeed, because you know that when they find success, so do we all. Sound judgement, accountability, and the ability to manage competing priorities will be critical to your success, as will extraordinary detail-orientation. Our team moves quickly, so we need someone who builds trust through competence, and brings initiative and tenacity to everything they do. On a practical level, that means working directly with contractors to: * Provide excellent customer service – as the contractor go-to source for information and support* Capture contractor time via online client systems, emailed time-sheets, and Excel reports* Communicate with contractors for missing time-sheets* Process hourly, daily, weekly, bonus, per diem, pay in lieu, and expense payments* Create ROE information and enter ROE data into Service Canada* Action new contract employee and vendor records, rate changes, corrections, and adjustments* Triage hundreds of emails a week* Assist with vendor accounts payable (contractor) auditing and validation* Create letters of employment* Perform payment data imports and regeneration of payment statements for accounts payableWhat’s it like to work at the Ian Martin Group? This year we were named number 2 on the Best Workplaces in Canada (  by the Great Place to Work Institute, and 97% of our employees agreed with the statement that “this is a great place to work”. Our brand-new office also includes a living wall, a workout area (and classes!), and standing desks. You’ll work Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.What are we looking for? The absolutely essential skill in this role is love for helping people. You have to have abundant kindness and empathy, and the desire to work closely with a team. We can teach you the rest. These skills are also useful and will help you stand out: * Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to resolve problems quickly and creatively* Experience running a complex, high-volume hourly payroll or accounts payable function (for example, running hourly project-based payroll, external contractor payroll, or complex commission and bonus payroll)* Computer savvy and experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP ERP systems, and Excel* Knowledge of accounting to help you understand the impact and inter-connectedness of your payroll work* Familiarity with US payroll and taxation (state and federal) would be a terrific asset, though not essential* Post-secondary degree or diploma, or business acumen gained from practical business experience How to Apply Our online application will give you the option to apply to this role as a complete person – not just a resume.
