– Vancouver, BC Status: Temporary Full Time Start Date: As soon as possible until approximately July 2021 Salary: $25.40
– $27.53 per hour Hours: 0900-1700 Days off: Saturday, Sunday, and statutory holidays Reference: 141909-cye Come work as a Primary Care Support Worker with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Primary Care Support Worker to join the Primary Care team at Three Bridges Community Health Centre.

Apply today to join our team As a Primary Care Support Worker with VCH you will: Work as a member of the interdisciplinary team to provide a variety of advocacy, liaison and peer support services to marginalized population groups within West End, Yaletown, Fairview Slopes, False Creek, South Granville, downtown Vancouver business district and Downtown South.

Assist clients in completing a variety of government forms for services such as premium assistance, immigration and housing.

Participate in team meetings and corporate initiatives, engage in ongoing team planning and quality improvement activities, participate in maintaining a healthy environment for clients and team and perform a variety of administrative duties.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience Completion of a Social Services and/or Mental Health Certificate Program.

Two years recent related experience working in an inner city clinic or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience.

Valid B.C.

Class V Drivers License.

Local area travel requires the use of a personal vehicle Knowledge & Abilities Knowledge of community, social and health resources.

Working knowledge of relevant legislation or statutes as it relates to completing government forms.

Knowledge of substance misuse and of problems encountered by chemically dependant individuals; basic understanding of behavior management.

Ability to work with a culturally diverse population.

Ability to work with street kids, the homeless, adults with various health and social problems and the GBLT population.

Knowledge of mental health issues and treatment.

Ability to demonstrate and assist client with development of health life skills.

Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients.

Ability to observe and recognize changes in clients.

Ability to deal effectively with conflict situations, manage aggressive behavior, and use non-violent crisis intervention and behavioral management techniques.

Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others.

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines.

Ability to establish/maintain satisfactory work relationships with the public and other employees, to deal tactfully and effectively with co-workers, public and staff from other agencies, to maintain confidentiality and to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Ability to operate related equipment.

Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.

Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
