This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.

Responsibilities Under the direction of the Program manager, and under the supervision of the registered Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist, the Rehabilitation Assistant, as an active member of the patient care team, works with individuals, families and groups to help educate and promote movement, occupation, function.

Working collaboratively with their team, the Rehabilitation Assistant is responsible for the safe and proficient delivery of activities that have been assigned by the physiotherapist/occupational therapists for patients coping with temporary or permanent limitations in movement and daily function.

They enable clients to meet their expected outcomes by contributing to the implementation and to the modification of rehab programs and services.

The Rehabilitation Assistant also checks and cleans equipment, maintains treatment and storage areas and orders necessary supplies.

Qualifications Grade 12 Rehabilitation Assistant Program (which includes both Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy components) BCLS and WHMIS Ability to communicate well with both patients and their families and staff Good interpersonal skills and be able to work collaboratively with team members Organizational ability to complete assigned work and manage changing staffing and caseload levels Previous experience dealing with elderly and physically and/or cognitively impaired patients is an asset Knowledge of proper body mechanics Demonstrate basic computer skills Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred Successful external applicants are required to provide a criminal record check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) to People Services before starting employment and assume any associated costs as a condition of employment.

Hours of Work Short assignment, Part-time (90%) position; 67.5 hours bi-weekly Beginning May 10, 2021 until September 3, 2021 These are anticipated dates and subject to change Salary Information Rehabilitation Assistant: $21.4133
