We are recruiting for a Support Engineer Apprentice to join our support team.

To be successful you’ll need excellent customer service and telephone manner skills whilst we help you develop your technical skills.

Brief job description: Estio Training have an exciting new opportunity for a Support Engineer with Monitor Computer Systems, a company who provides alarm monitoring systems, based in York.

Job Description: Following initial training, you’ll perform first line duties to assist our customers resolving their problems with Sentinel, integrations and the infrastructure it runs upon.

Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of: Dealing with customer support issues in a professional and courteous manner.

Participating in first line, second line, testing and upgrade roles.

Assessing customer satisfaction and escalating customers who are not satisfied to the line manager.

Working together with the other support team members to address priorities accordingly.

Managing projects which includes new Sentinel customers, Sentinel server upgrades and major customer changes.

Qualifications: 5 GCSEs grades A-C/9-4 or equivalent (including English Language and Maths).

Skills Required: An ability and desire to solve problems.

An understanding of support tools, techniques and how technology is used to provide services.

Strong understanding of operating systems, business applications, networking and relational databases.

Knowledge of IT Applications, Software & Hardware.

IT literate.

Personal qualities: Great communications skills, founded in being a good listener.

A sense of humility and empathy Not essential but favourable: Interest in working with office applications like the Microsoft Office or Open Office suite.

Driving licence preferable.

Knowledge of working of how helpdesks work.

Suse, CentOS, Redhat and Ubuntu Linux.

Informix Dynamic Server.

Vsphere Esxi and Hyper V virtualisation technologies.

WAN/LAN IP Configurations, DNS, TCP/UDP.
