Support Worker

Woodstock and District Developmental Services WDDS

This is a Contract position in Brandon, MB posted February 21, 2021.

As a leader in the field of Developmental Services, Woodstock and District Developmental Services (WDDS) has experienced continuous growth and is currently recruiting Direct Support Professionals to assist people with developmental disabilities find a satisfying and purposeful place in their community by enhancing their quality of life and promoting personal growth.

Expand a person’s support network that includes people outside their paid supports.

Build on capacities of individuals, families and networks.

Support people to explore their goals annually and/or as expressed by the person Ensure a person’s support agreements are updated at least monthly or as indicated in their agreements with their goals/steps.

Community and Capacity Building Work in partnership with the community connector to support new community connections.

Support people to be valued members of the community with a valued role Work under the direction of the person to expand their participation in the community Promote and demonstrate the vision, mission and values of the Agency within the workplace and the community.

Education/Experience: Minimum Grade 12 with related experience supporting people with developmental disabilities with diverse needs, which may include, medication administration, assisting with personal care and activities of daily living; and planning activities that reflect individualized interests and inclusion in the community Equivalent education and relevant experience Skills Valid Ontario G or G2 driver’s licence Valid Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Screening Valid CPR Emergency First Aid Certificate Valid CPI Training Certificate Valid WHMIS Certificate Knowledge of AIMS would be considered an asset.

Flexibility in working hours to accommodate support requirements and respond to emergency situations.

A person’s skills, abilities and experiences will be considered when determining the area of employment within WDDS May be additional requirements and duties depending on assignment
