About the Opportunity Currently, Solid Rock Steel is looking for an entry-level Takeoff Estimator Support Assistant to join our team full-time in Surrey, BC.

As our new Takeoff Estimator Support Assistant, you will support the Estimator(s) by preparing quantity takeoffs for potential projects involving structural steel and miscellaneous metals.

With training, your key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Downloading and printing project plans Monitoring addendums Visiting project sites to ascertain access, site conditions, etc.

Preparing takeoffs (in a ‘Bill of Material’ format on Excel) Preparing the estimate ‘tender letter’ Interpreting, reading, and reviewing specifications Making pricing inquires for ‘specialty’ items (incl’dg OWSJ’s & Decking) Working with the Estimator(s) to review and finalize quotations Keeping all documents and specs organized Consistent with your qualifications, other duties required by management for the company’s benefit About You To qualify for this role, you must have at least 1 year experience in steel fabrication, installation, or detailing, as well as knowledge in trades involving structural steel and miscellaneous metals.

In order to succeed in the role, you must also have: Blueprint reading/comprehension skills and a solid understanding of ‘construction scopes/specs’ Strong Microsoft Office capabilities Steel construction (fabrication or installation) experience is required Steel detailing skills are an asset, but not required Bilingual fluency in measurements (Metric and Imperial) Post-secondary education with a diploma or degree related to Construction Management, Estimating, Quantity Surveying, Business or related education will be considered an asset, but not required About the Benefits As a valued member of our team, you will be awarded a $20-28 hourly wage, evaluated on knowledge, skills, and experience, plus: Extended health and dental coverage 2 weeks vacation to start RRSP matching Car mileage reimbursement Social events including summer BBQs, employee and family get togethers, and holiday parties Possible relocation allowance for the successful candidate in and outside the province This position provides an opportunity to build and grow your career with an industry leader, while assisting with exciting and unique projects across the country Don’t miss out and submit your application
