SUMMARY OF POSITIONThe Life Skills Worker will work with the Housing Support Coordinator to support individuals who live in the community who are experiencing mental health and addiction issues to enable them to fulfill their goals identified in their individualized support plan.

Life Skills Workers provide support to the individuals we serve in the areas of supportive counseling, crisis intervention and prevention, skills development (life skills, social skills, interpersonal and problem solving skills), vocational and leisure support.

In addition, the Life Skills Worker will assist and/or provide practical support with cooking, cleaning, laundry, personal hygiene, medication support, financial management and budgeting.

In each of these areas, you will provide services in a manner consistent with the mission and values of Thresholds Homes and Supports Inc.

HOURS OF WORKThis position works thirty-five (35) hours per week, with the hours being flexible to the needs of consumers.

This position includes staff on-call responsibilities on a rotational basis.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum of a relevant University Degree or College Health Sciences/Social Services Diploma.1-2 years of experience in a community mental health setting working with adults with complex mental health and / or addictions concerns.Experience working with individuals who have dual diagnosis, concurrent disorders, acquired brain injury and/or complex medical needs preferred.Excellent organizational, oral and written skills.Demonstrated ability to respect rights and personal preference in treatment, rehabilitation and support including the Recovery Model.Demonstrated ability in building rapport, assessment, problem solving, crisis de-escalation, and conflict management skills.Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism.Certification in First Aid/CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, and suicide risk assessment preferred.Proficient computer skills including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and electronic record keeping and data collection systems.Must have a valid G-Class Ontario driver’s license, relevant insurance and use of a reliable vehicle.Able to successfully complete and provide a current Police Vulnerable Sector Check.To apply please visit: https://thresholdssupports.Humi.Ca/job-board/life skills worker/2811
