As a leader in the field of Developmental Services, Woodstock and District Developmental Services (WDDS) has experienced continuous growth and is currently recruiting Direct Support Professionals to assist people with developmental disabilities find a satisfying and purposeful place in their community by enhancing their quality of life and promoting personal growth.What We Offer!Competative Salary: 19.77$-21.15$ an hour!Opportunities for advancement and leadership development opportunitiesBenefits: Employee assistance program, Accidental death insurance, LifeWorks programFlexible hoursExtensive training with receive reimbursement for training and development activitiesReimbursement for kilometres travelledBest of all, work that truly makes a difference in the lives of people with developmental disabilities!Responsibilities and DutiesEngage person in person directed planning processAssist the person in a process of self-discovery, self-determination, community involvementEngage with family, friends and community in the support and achievement of a planning processCommit to ongoing reflection on the planning process.Expand a person’s support network that includes people outside their paid supports.Build on capacities of individuals, families and networks.Support people to explore their goals annually and/or as expressed by the personEnsure a person’s support agreements are updated at least monthly or as indicated in their agreements with their goals/steps.Community and Capacity BuildingWork in partnership with the community connector to support new community connections.Support people to be valued members of the community with a valued roleWork under the direction of the person to expand their participation in the communityPromote and demonstrate the vision, mission and values of the Agency within the workplace and the community.

Education/Experience:Minimum Grade 12 with related experience supporting people with developmental disabilities with diverse needs, which may include, medication administration, assisting with personal care and activities of daily living; and planning activitiesthat reflect individualized interests and inclusion in the communityEquivalent education and relevant experienceSkillsValid Ontario G or G2 driver’s licenceValid Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector ScreeningValid CPR Emergency First Aid CertificateValid CPI Training CertificateValid WHMIS CertificateKnowledge of AIMS would be considered an asset.Flexibility in working hours to accommodate support requirements and respond to emergency situations.A person’s skills, abilities and experiences will be considered when determining the area of employment within WDDSMay be additional requirements and duties depending on assignment
